Birds themselves are inherently beautiful.  Capturing a picture up close brings out the details and confirms why they are a favored group of animals around the globe.  Not only do they come in all the colors of the rainbow, but they also all come with a very special song or call that says, “look at me, I am over here, and I matter.”

Looking through the bird photographs, you’ll find the most impressive color schemes.  From the bubble-gum pink legs of the Black-bellied Whistling Ducks to fiery colored bill on the Atlantic Puffin or the electric blue head of the Painted Bunting.  Don’t forget to look at the impressive array of birds that display muted colors to hide in plain sight like the Scaled Quail or Barred Owl.

You will notice the majority of my bird photographs feature them in their natural habitat.  That being said, various bird species have adapted to some of the man-made structure that turn up in their habitat and will use them as perches, lookout sites and nesting locations.  I have been fortunate to capture images of birds bringing courtship gifts, courtship displays, nest building and the raucous commotion that goes on when parents return to feed nearly grown youngsters.
